The acai berry has also been known to contain more antioxidants than other berries. Acai is mainly processed into a freeze dried powder or other frozen forms. In order to make an acai bowl, you first need to purchase some form of acai. Personally, the frozen packets perfect the consistency of the frozen treat, however freeze dried powder works just as well. You can find frozen acai berry at most grocers, however health food stores are more likely to have a better selection.
Now that you are up to date on the mysterious acai berry, you can begin to learn how to make the perfect power acai bowl! First things first, you need a high speed blender handy. Next, you will need the following ingredients, however you may substitute other foods if you do not have them on hand.
1 cup spinach
1 frozen banana
½ to 1 cup frozen mixed berries
1 frozen unsweetened acai berry packet
1 tbs organic raw cacao powder
1 tsp maca powder
½ to 1 cup water or organic coconut milk
For the toppings; the particular bowl featured is topped with coconut shavings, all natural organic peanut butter, goji berries, chia seeds, and cacao nibs. However, you can top your bowl with any of your favorite fruits, nuts, or seeds for added protein and flavor.
