Healthy Mounds/Bounty Candy Bar

Try this healthy version of a popular candy.

Ingredients 

  • 1/4 cup (20g) unsweetened coconut flakes 
  • 1 tbsp light coconut milk 
  • 1 tsp coconut oil 
  • 1/2 tsp honey or maple syrup 
  • 1 small pinch salt 
  • 15g dark chocolate 

Instructions

  1. If the coconut oil is solid, melt it in the microwave for a few seconds. 
  2. Mix coconut flakes, coconut milk, coconut oil, honey and salt. 
  3. Place a sheet of plastic wrap on your working surface. Place the coconut mixture on top of it. 
  4. Fold the plastic wrap over the mixture and shape mixture into a bar. 
  5. Cut the bar in half and shape the edges of both halves. 
  6. Place the 2 bars in the freezer 15 to 20 minutes to harden. 
  7. Melt the chocolate in the microwave. 
  8. With the back of a teaspoon spread the chocolate on the bottom of each bar. Let the chocolate solidify. 
  9. Turn the bars around and spread the chocolate over the uncovered areas. Let solidify. 
  10. Keep in the fridge. 

Yields: 2 bars
